Réjean Côtes

Ceramic Canton-de -Hatley, Québec, Canada

self-taught, he has always been passionate about making beautiful permanent objects to enhance the family or personal environment. The aim is to create pieces that will stand the test of time, developing an ever closer and more intimate relationship with their owner or users. He firmly believes that an object made by hand by a person is more meaningful than an object from an industrial chain.
Indeed, the simultaneous firing of the clay body and the glaze at high temperature confers a unique character to the artisanal sandstone and porcelain pottery. The decorations engraved in the piece or scratched through a layer of slip reveal this close interaction between the clay and the glaze. Finally, wood burning, due to the random effects caused by the circulation of flames and ashes, contributes remarkably to the warmth and uniqueness of each piece.
