I have been a ceramic artist for the last forty years. My creative inspiration for all my decorative and functional pieces comes from architecture, archeology and from my travels. My pottery is fired using the ancient Japanese firing technique called “raku”, which is the only firing process where the pieces are unloaded in their incandescent stage. It is an exciting and rewarding technique producing dramatic effects that darken the clay and create very rich glazes. For the last two years, I have been experimenting with a new firing process in which the pieces are fired at a very high temperature in a gas kiln. Through this new approach, I have been able to explore new forms and colors.
