Professional and Artistic Approach
Born in Magog, I have held various jobs where manual dexterity was more than just an asset. A position as a blacksmith artisan allowed me to learn the craft of working with metals and gave me the opportunity to refine my techniques in this field.
Particularly drawn to the creative possibilities of this medium, I spent my leisure time working with metals and continued my self-taught learning in this domain without ever neglecting professionalism in my work.
In 1990, I discovered the craft of coppersmithing. Since I enjoy challenges and embrace them with courage, I decided to join the Corporation of Fine Crafts of the Eastern Townships and take advantage of the numerous exhibitions to showcase my coppersmithing work.
In February 1991, I officially registered my own business under the name R. Pouliot, dinandier (coppersmith). While I continue working to secure the necessary income for my family’s needs, my artisan work is taking up an increasingly significant place in my life, and I take pride in the pieces I create.
