General conditions of participation

1. Basis of the agreement
The artist welcomes all visitors in his/her studio or exhibition site  for the duration of the activity.

2. Conditions of eligibility
2.1 The artist must have a personal and sustained artistic production. (The artistic criteria of selection are the following : originality and creativity, composition and balance, quality and technical research, artist statement and CV).
2.2 The artist must be a landlord residing full time or part time, or a tenant residing full time in the MRC Memphrémagog and provide a tangible proof of residency.
2.3 The artist must have an exhibition site which is pleasing, accessible, salubrious and safe.
2.4 Send all documents before the deadline: form, up-to-date CV, artistic process, 10 photos of recent works, in JPEG format. 1900 pixels in the longest direction.
2.5 Send a cheque made out to Circuit des arts:

  • For artists who participated in the last two editions $365.
  • For artists who did not participate in the last two editions, a cheque of $405 for participation fees plus a second cheque of $20 non-refundable for file analysis.

The retained files will be returned with the participation fee cheque.

  • Due to the requirements of our SODEC grant, the Circuit des arts must have a minimum of 50% craftsmen participating and, as a result, the Circuit may be obliged to refuse quality visual art applications, that otherwise could have been accepted.

Following his/her acceptance, each artist member of the Circuit des arts Memphrémagog must commit to the following rules:

3.1 The artist engages himself to give at least 1 to 2 days of volunteer work to the organization.

3.2 The artist sells works at his exhibition site that are consistent with those that have been presented and accepted by the Selection Committee. The artist sells or exhibits original art works, neither copies nor counterfeits of art works already existing.

3.3 The artist installs by themselves the signs provided by the Circuit des arts Memphrémagog by themselves. A deposit of $30 is refundable upon return of the signs in good condition. Artists are required to use only the official signs provided by the Circuit.

3.4 The artist must expose an art work at the collective exhibition and if sold, donate 25% of the sale’s price to the Circuit des arts Memphrémagog.

3.5 The artist must be present at his/her exhibition site during the opening hours of the Circuit des arts Memphrémagog, from 10 am to 5 pm.

3.6 The artist agrees that his/her name, address, phone number, e-mail, personal photographs and art works can be used for publication or activities selected by the organizers to promote the event.

3.7 The artist pledges to not make or carry out any expenses in the name of the Circuit des arts Memphrémagog.

3.8 The artist pledges to respect the work of the other participants of the Circuit des arts Memphrémagog.

3.9 The artist pledges to not claim reimbursement of his/her membership fees if he/she cancels his/her registration after the registration period. However, he/she may claim reimbursement of membership fees, in the event of cancellation by the Board of Directors, if he/she does not wish to postpone their registration to the following year.

Additional clauses: In order to fulfill its responsabilities, the Circuit des arts Memphrémagog must apply the following rules:

A) During the Circuit, an artist may be expelled if he/she exhibits, sells or publicizes at his/her site the art work of another artist who has not been approved by the Circuit des arts Memphrémagog.

(B) It is forbidden for an artist to use the name of the Circuit des arts Memphrémagog for his/her own personal advertising and to do the promotion of the Circuit without the prior authorization of the Board of Administrators, which is entirely responsible for promoting the event.

4.1 The Circuit des arts Memphrémagog is responsible for promoting, organizing and carrying out the activity.

4.2 The Circuit des arts Memphrémagog will produce a foldout map leaflet providing the name, address, telephone number, exhibition site and artistic discipline of each participating artist. These leaflets will be distributed on a large scale basis. The information will also be available on the CDAM website and Facebook page.

4.3 The Circuit reserves the right to re-evaluate the dossier of all artists every three (3) years.

5. Liability

The Circuit des arts Memphrémagog will not be liable for any damage, accident or theft that may happen during the course of the activity. In addition, the Circuit is released from any obligation in the eventuality of the cancellation of the activity, in which case, the admission fees will not be reimbursed. The artist releases the members of the Board of Administrators, the employees and the volunteers who work for the Circuit from any liability or claim regarding the activity.

    Annex A: Voluntary obligations

    Due to the organization’s limited resources, it is customary to require volunteer involvement (1 to 2 days) from each of the participating artists.

    We ask you to indicate the areas of work in which you can offer us help and to indicate, as well, your interest, aptitudes, restrictions. Whenever possible, the Board members will try to assign you a task of your choice.

      Appendix A: Voluntary obligations

      Voluntary contribution Due to the limited resources of the organization, it is customary to require volunteer involvement (1 to 2 days) from each participating artist for organise the Circuit or for the collective exhibition.

      We ask you to indicate the areas of work that you can offer us to helpp us meet our needs. In addition to its abilities - restrictions. As far as poccible, C.A. members will try to assign you the task of your choice.
